About
Kokua Mental Health & Wellness is dedicated to the sustainable growth and holistic wellness of its clients.
Kokua Mental Health and Wellness LLC (KMHW) is a private therapy practice founded in 2020 with the mission and vision of providing exemplary clinical services to individuals, couples, and families throughout the state of Hawaii.
Since its inception in 2020, KMHW has prepared for the constraints of limited in-person services imposed by COVID-19. As a forward-facing company, KMH&W secured a safe, efficient, and user-friendly telehealth platform.
KMHW is excited to announce that in 2022, its clinical staff will expand by partnering with qualified providers across the state. With their addition, we will bring an array of mental health experts from diverse training backgrounds and areas of strength and expertise.

Hello! I’m Gino
Licensed Therapist
My tenure in mental health has spanned 10 years of progressive work from direct clinical services to administrative leadership. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University and received my clinical training through Northwestern University’s Masters of Mental Health Counseling program.
I am licensed in the State of Hawaii as a Mental Health Counselor, nationally certified as Counselor and credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional with the Hawaii Department of Health.
Professionally, I have provided contracted therapeutic services with the Department of Public Safety for clientele incarcerated in correctional facilities as well as transitioning to work furlough and parole. These services included psychoeducation, group therapy, individual therapy, conjoint therapy and family therapy.
I have held the appointment of Clinical Supervisor in a Department of Human Service Child Welfare contract through a non-profit organization. I had the privilege of leading a team of therapists who provided various therapeutic interventions to individuals and families through clinical services, skill development and psychoeducation. Currently, I serve in a Program Directorship with a non-profit organization in their youth mental health programs that are contracted with the Hawaii Department of Health. I provide administrative management and
leadership to support the supervisors and direct-service staff.
Additionally, I am honored to return to my alma mater at Northwestern University as a university supervisor, providing clinical supervision to graduate students in training through the Mental Health Counseling program.
My Approach & Values
My treatment philosophy rests on the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the preeminent vehicle to a corrective emotional experience. I approach my role as both a facilitator and partner who will guide you through areas of struggle and explore solutions to work through the hard moments and empower healing.
